The Saint Rest Community Economic Development Corporation (SRCEDC) is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the Community Engagement Specialist position. The ideal candidate values concepts concerning the community, collaboration, teamwork, and professionalism. Bilingual in English/Spanish or other secondary languages may be required based on locations and needs of clients. Community Engagement Specialists will support and work closely with the SRCEDC Community Engagement Project Manager in outreach and canvassing activities within the 93706 community, conduct surveys/interviews with residents, plan and implement community outreach events, document all encounters with residents, and report to the SRCEDC Community Engagement Project Manager.


SRCEDC’s support for and commitment to the goals of community engagement are for implementing promising, evidence-informed, and multi-level environmental, community and clinical, interpersonal, and individual interventions for lower income, vaccination hesitant, and racially, culturally and age diverse stakeholders within the 93706 community. SRCEDC’s mission is to develop and support community-based strategies that increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for a sustainable Saint Rest community. We work in partnership with local residents, business owners, and organizations to reimagine our community and to provide a better way of life. This work will help to close equity gaps in vaccinations and build community capacity and a resilient civic infrastructure for broader change within the 93706 community. JOB SUMMARY


The SRCEDC Community Engagement Specialist (CES) will report to an assigned Project Manager and will focus on community outreach and engagement through resident contact in the 93706 zip code.


Under general guidance and direction, CES’s are accountable for the day-to-day implementation and operation of their assigned projects. Essential Job Functions

While the essential functions outlined below describe a significant portion of this position’s assigned responsibilities, other functions, duties, responsibilities and accountabilities may be assigned from time to time. SRCEDC Community Engagement Specialists…

  • Will engage in approximately 12 -13 weeks of part-time temporary work over a grant-funded period between December 1, 2021 through March 15, 2022 – with no work December 24, 2021 through January 3, 2021.
  • Will be a part of a team and collaborative effort in Fresno. Each team will complete a minimum 600 hours of community engagement over the grant period.
  • Will engage with a minimum of 7,200 community members within the 93706 zip code to conduct surveys/interviews and provide information surrounding community resources and needs.
  • Will complete a minimum of 450 digital surveys and when appropriate, provide referrals for outside resources.
  • Will complete daily and weekly reports and timesheets as requested.

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • A proven commitment to the mission and vision of the SRCEDC.
  • The ability to physically move (walk, wheelchair, etc.) from door to door, carrying canvassing supplies.
  • The ability to use a digital tablet for recording/documenting work accomplished and completing surveys.
  • The ability to input data both digitally and manually.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or other secondary languages desirable based on locations and needs of clients.
  • Some proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience with or the ability to learn and gain proficiency with website administration as well as the ability to learn and use specialty software.
  • Skill and comfort in communicating orally and in writing with groups of all sizes, in-person as well as through electronic media.
  • Experience in mentoring, training, motivating and providing leadership and direction to community volunteers.
  • Experience in organizational and community development.
  • The ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and thriving in a deadline driven environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, maintain state minimum levels of auto insurance, have a clean driving record, and possess the ability to be covered by the agencies insurance carrier if applicable.

Education And Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is desirable but not required. Strong oral and written communication skills a must. CES’s should possess the ability to inspire and motivate others and have an inclusive leadership style that endorses collaboration, honesty, integrity, professionalism and a commitment to the SRCEDC and its communities.

Environmental Conditions And Physical Requirements

Work is often performed in an environmentally controlled setting but may frequently require work outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes and/or inclement weather. CES’s may be regularly required to sit; stand, walk and climb stairs, speak and hear, both in-person and by telephone; and use fingers and hands repetitively to operate a tablet. CES’s may be occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or bend and lift up to 25 pounds.

Compensation

Hourly wage ranges from $15-$17 per hour. This position is part-time/temporary work (20-30 hours per week during grant period), employer-funded health benefits will not be provided.
